Linguist Operations Team Lead
The Team Lead is an extension of the Contract Management Team and reports to the Operations Manager. The Team Lead is responsible for coordinating project tasks and takes an active role in leading a team of linguists performing media exploitation and document translation.
Responsibilities:
The Team Lead is responsible for the day-to-day management and performance of the team to include but not limited to the following:
- Provides proactive leadership of the team. Assigns daily work and follows through on all task assignments. Ensures deliveries are on-time and conform to quality standards. Gives clear and concise instructions of task assignments. Provides constructive feedback to their team.
- Establishes team goals aligned with overall departmental objectives, and is responsible for work procedures of their team. Accountable for team performance and the effectiveness of production processes.
- Fosters the development of subject matter experts within the team and delivers work assignments accordingly.
- Creates an atmosphere of continuous improvement. Presents ideas for improving overall processes, procedures, and tools.
- Works on enhancing quality monitoring methods and is responsible for executing various quality control checks on final product.
- Reviews daily quantitative and qualitative productivity reports and monitors team and individual performance.
- Ensures that all work status and important issues are well communicated, and highlights concerns to direct Manager and Senior Management team where appropriate.
- Implements training and mentoring of team members and ensures that training is consistent with departmental guidelines and directives.
- Conducts evaluation reviews per department standards. Provides ongoing performance-related feedback of team members.
- Fosters a team-oriented environment and initiates team building activities to build team unity and spirit. Coordinates and communicates well with other departmental Team Leads.
- Ensures all company and departmental policies are followed. Records all policy deviations, and administers disciplinary actions with approval from manager to employees that have violated departmental policies, or have poor performance.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; or three to four years related management and linguist experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum language proficiency of 3 on the ILR scale in Arabic or any of the AFPAK languages
- Ability to act independently and take charge of the business
- Strong teamwork and organizational skills
- Excellent oral/written communications skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work all shifts and weekends as needed
- Capacity to accept feedback constructively
- Maintains high ethical standards both personally and professionally
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite
- TS/SCI required
